TAKEO PAPER SHOW 2023 ‘PACKAGING: Function and Laughter’
Takeo Paper Show, hosted by the paper trading company Takeo, returned for its 49th edition in 2023 after five years. Planned and directed by Kenya Hara and the Hara Design Institute, the event explored packaging from two perspectives under the theme 'Packaging—Function and Laughter.'
Fuction
In the 'Function' section, 13 groups of creators, highly attuned to materials and the environment, came together to propose new containers and packaging for the near future of paper.
Laughter
In the 'Laughter' section, curated by Makoto Umebara, a designer based in Kochi known for drawing out the power of local regions, the exhibition explored the appeal of packaging that irresistibly invites people to pick it up.
Book
Aligned with the exhibition 'PACKAGING—Function and Laughter,' we created a special edition book combining the two sections. Featuring perforated inner pages, it opens from both sides: 'Laughter' on the right and 'Function' on the left.
Niseko Exhibition
The exhibition was held at the Arishima Memorial Museum in Niseko Town, Hokkaido from July 13 (Sat) to August 18 (Sun), 2024.
Echizen Sabae Exhibition
The exhibition was held concurrently with RENEW2024 at Fukui Monozukuri Campus in Fukui Prefecture from October 31 (Thursday) to November 3 (Sunday), 2024.
