SIMOSE

SIMOSE, an art museum, villa, and restaurant, was established in Otake City, Hiroshima Prefecture, in a seaside location overlooking Miyajima on the other side of the island. Hara Design Institute was in charge of the overall concept of the facility, as well as all the tools to create the brand identity, including the VI, graphics, facility fixtures, restaurant menu, and website. The entire architecture of the facility was designed by Shigeru Ban.

VI/Main Visual

美術館、ヴィラ、レストランの複合施設であるSIMOSEにおいて、施設ごとに異なるロゴタイプとすることで、各施設の差別化を図りつつ、全体としては一貫したコミュニケーションが形成されるようVIを設計しています。

Application Tools

The application tools for each facility feature a dynamic rectangle representing the museum's movable exhibition hall, ensuring consistent deployment across different mediums.

Signage

The 'Ant Sign,' featuring a thin, elongated stem extending from a black circular surface, blends naturally into the landscape while clearly organizing information through layered circular planes. It forms a unified signage system that guides visitors throughout the SIMOSE complex.

Original Merchandise

We created original goods inspired by the unique charm of each SIMOSE facility—the museum, villas, and restaurant. Highlights include 'Galle Fragments,' glass objects recreating techniques of Emile Gallé, crayons inspired by waterside and forest views from the villas, and sliced paper tubes used in the facility interiors. These items gently enrich everyday life even after your visit. All goods are available at the museum shop, with fixtures specially designed to harmonize with the architectural space. We invite you to stop by during your visit to SIMOSE.
