Takeo Paper Show 2023 Packaging: Function and Laughter Niseko Exhibition

With Packaging: Function and Laughter as its theme, the Takeo Paper Show takes a fresh look at packaging from two different perspectives.
The traveling exhibition is being shown at the Arishima Takeo Memorial Museum in Niseko, Hokkaido for about one month, from July 13 to August 18, 2024.

The Arishima Takeo Memorial Museum is a red brick building covered in ivy.
Based on the theme of “laughter,” designer Makoto Umehara curated a selection of a hundred packages from all over Japan, and these are displayed in an open space with large windows overlooking the gardens.
Moving through the thicket of yellow display stands, you will come upon a regimented exhibition space dedicated to the concept of “function.”
This area displays new containers and packaging that look to the near future of paper that have been designed by twelve creative teams who are keenly sensitive to materials and the environment.

The battleground for packaging, something that makes latent value visible, is shifting to local communities.
During the exhibition run, talks will be given at the venue by creators who work mainly in Hokkaido.
This will give people a real-world opportunity to experience the design of today.
