Hakkaisan Hyaku
Hara Design Institute was responsible for creating the packaging for Hyaku (One hundred), a sake made by Hakkaisan Brewery to celebrate its one-hundredth anniversary, which they viewed as an opportunity to reflect on the past and connect to the next hundred years.
The Japanese character hyaku (one hundred) is placed prominently on the label. It is drawn in a powerful and neat block style that represents the meticulous way of brewing sake that Hakkaisan continues to aspire to.
Hara Design Institute designed the package with attention to every detail, from the bottles individually handcrafted by artisans and the carefully chosen handmade paper labels to the paulownia wood box that expresses the sensibility of this sake.
